In this story, twelve-year-old Maisie and her dog Eddie are invited by their friend Alice to join them on a trip to the countryside. It's great to get away from the smog of London, but there's something strange about the house the girls are staying in. An unexplained rustling, unpleasant smells, and the appearance of a ghostly cat keep them up all night.
Did Alice's dad rent a haunted house? There must be some logical explanation for this. Maisie decides to use her detective skills and find out what's going on!
