Motanka's book

Modern fantasy in Ukraine and the world really has a feminine face. The collection of fantasy stories "Motanka" will introduce readers to the works of twelve modern Ukrainian authors, different in mood and direction, setting and style. Mysticism and fantasy in these stories always return to the female experience during war, even if it transports readers to an alternative Leoburg or an unknown swampland in a fictional world, confronts heroes with mermaids or spirits of the dead. The heroines of these stories are strong, able to overcome invaders and defend themselves and those they love. And these heroines will certainly be remembered by you.

Each of the twelve stories is illustrated by Inna Deliyeva, who also designed the stylish cover. The main image for the collection was the image of a motanka doll - a feminine image of a protector, which is mystified, magical and powerful. In the editorial foreword, readers can read the scientific commentary of anthropologist Maria Kuryachaya on the existence of the image of a motanka as a talisman, which is especially relevant in times of full-scale war.
