The book The Garden of Gethsemane. Tigrolov Ivan Bagryany
This edition contains two of the most famous works of the Ukrainian writer in exile Ivan Bahryany – “The Garden of Gethsemane” and “The Tiger Hunters”. In his novels – partly autobiographical – the author ruthlessly exposes the entire criminal, cynical and inhuman essence of the communist-Stalinist regime in particular and totalitarianism in general. The main characters of the works, despite all the mockery, humiliation, torture of the bloody servants of the NKVD punitive machine, do not lose heart, continue to resist the regime and remain people. Both novels are extremely relevant in our time, as they allow us to better understand the motives and intentions of the racists, who are actually ardent followers of Stalin’s punishers. It is precisely their cruel and inhuman methods and ideas that they still resort to in their actions. The novels are not presented in chronological order, but this sequence, according to the book's compilers, is appropriate, as it helps to better see the unfolding and development of events in both works. Although the novels have different plots and characters, they share a common theme.
The proposed book will be interesting for the widest range of readers: young people, soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, those interested in the history of Ukraine, and many others.
