Memories / edited by Bohdan Boychuk, author, preface by Tetyana Boyko; art. design by Oleksiy Chekal. — Kharkiv: Publisher Oleksandr Savchuk, 2022. — 512 p., 139 ill.
Memoirs of Yosyp Hirnjak (1895–1989), one of the greatest actors of the artistic association "Berezil", are a unique monument of Ukrainian history of the first half of the 20th century. Together with the author, the reader finds himself behind the scenes of one of the best Ukrainian theaters. Exclusive information about the preparation, rehearsals, and premieres of Kurbasiv's iconic performances gives the memoirs special importance: in essence, it is an alternative history of "Berezil", told firsthand.
Special attention in the memoirs is paid to Lesya Kurbas and Ostap Vyshna; with the latter, Yosyp Hirnyak was in exile. The memoirs are opened by a preface by Ms. Tetyana Boyko; an index of names, plays, operas, and films was developed for the publication. "Memoirs" was first published in 1982 in New York and was not published in Ukraine.
