The book Language and Nation by Yaroslav Radevych-Vinnytskyi, Vasyl Ivanyshyn

The book "Language and Nation", authored by teachers of Drohobych University, was first published in 1990 during the turbulent times of the collapse of the Soviet empire and the unfolding of the next stage of Ukrainian national revival. It immediately became a bestseller and a classic of linguistic and nationalistic thought. It is also very relevant in our anxious time of the Moscow-Ukrainian war, when the problem of the survival of Ukrainian culture, nation, and state became acute. The problem of language is also constantly present in modern socio-political discussions. Unfortunately, in this fateful period of our history, not everyone still understands its role as a human-forming, nation-forming, and state-forming factor.

The proposed work, in a concise form of theses, broadly covers linguistic issues related to the essence, role, and functioning of language in society, reveals the mechanism of denationalization of the people on linguistic grounds, and provides scientific material necessary for every citizen to develop a linguistically meaningful worldview and an appropriate attitude towards their native and other languages.
