Book Sky. Cliffs. Precipice. Water Vasyl Stus
Before you is a book of poems, translations, articles, and letters that are most important for the artistic and aesthetic worldview of Vasyl Stus, one of the most tragic and profound Ukrainian poets of the 20th century.
Sky. Cliffs. Ravine. Water. Symbolic elements in which and with which the poet lived, struggled, dissolved, competed, created – plowing through his own fate, poems, and worldview choices a deep line between a philistine and adaptive existence and an extremely honest life with himself, in himself, and above himself.
About the author
Every reader is touched by the phrase "forbidden literature", and immediately wants to know at least a little about what it is about and why it was banned. The author, whose literature for a long time belonged to the category of banned, Vasyl Stus was not afraid to speak out against the totalitarian regime. Living in the Soviet Union, where active work of unification was carried out, where division into different peoples was not welcomed, but on the contrary, everyone was considered a single people, the writer nevertheless defended the interests of Ukrainian culture. He belonged to the dissident movement, his books were not published during his lifetime, but he did not stop his activities.
