Brothers Vladko and Nachko are always together - both for potatoes and in prison, and looking for a robber's treasure to help those in need. Even in adulthood, each of them chooses a path that will allow them to be a support to the community and a bone in the throat of the "cream of the crop" of society, which does not want to say goodbye to serfdom, which was abolished long ago. But the trials on this path the Kalynovich brothers - a lawyer and an editor - must overcome alone.

This is a story about the fragility of beliefs and the power of self-awareness, wrapped in adventures and the atmosphere of secular Lviv on the verge of change.
