The novel "Mort" opens the cycle of the "Diskworld" series, in which the main character is Death. But this does not mean that the book is scary, because in Terry Pratchett's world, Death fishes, philosophizes, loves kittens and delicious food, dreams of a vacation and, in the end, simply does his job: sends souls to another world. Thoughts about vacation prompt Death to choose a country boy, Mort, as his apprentice.
Will the clumsy and not very capable of managing Mort cope with the tasks of the other side of life and will he be able to master the difficult profession of Death? Such an apprenticeship promises the boy career growth, improved image, broadening of horizons and numerous business trips. However, Mort's sympathy and romantic hobbies can not only interfere with his work, but also threaten the integrity of the universe.
