One day, a small town in Maine finds itself completely cut off from the outside world by a transparent dome. No one can enter, no one can leave. And as panic spreads through the settlement, local businessman Big Jim takes power into his own hands.
A police force overhaul and the new chief's thuggish management style lead to an increase in lawlessness and violence under the Dome. The dark secrets of the residents are revealed, while the number of victims increases. And only a small group of people, along with former army man Dale "Barbie" Barbara, are trying to find out the reasons for the Dome's appearance and get rid of it. All of them risk their lives, because Big Jim is not going to just give up his newly acquired, almost unlimited, power.
